Use these clematis to grow in the mixed herbaceous border with other perennials. They are hardy flower year after year and easy to grow and are mid to late summer flowering. They all like well drained soil. Some are self supporting, others are non clinging and can scramble over other shrubs, roses or provide ground cover.

All herbaceous clematis are suitable to use as cut flowers, excellent for flower arranging. Like other perennials they die back in winter to re-emerge in the spring.

I have split them into two separate groups those that are known as Heracleifolia cultivars ranging in height from 1-4ft, requiring little or no support. The other group, ranging in height from 2-8ft. Prune the heracleifolias in late spring March/April.

	C.Buckland Cascade - scented white flws June-Sept. Try growing it in a hanging basket or tall pot allowing the plant to tumble down. Sun/semi-shade. Ht 3ft. Hard prune group 3.
	C. Cassandra - Flws tubular dark blue sweetly scented July-Sept. Ht 3ft. Sun/semi-shade. Hard prune group 3. Self supporting.
	C. Crepuscule - Flws tubular pale purple sweetly scented July-Sept. Ht-3-4ft. Sun/semi-shade. Hard prune group 3. Self supporting.
	C. Eclipse - Scented dark blue tubular flws July-Sept. Self supporting. Ht 3ft. Any aspect. Hard prune group 3.
	C. Edward Prichard - Ht 3-4ft. Sweetly scented star shaped flws cream edged pink July-Sept. Sun/semi-shade. Hard prune group 3.
	C. jouiniana Praecox - A vigorous plant which can either be trained upwards or allowed to scramble along the ground providing excellent ground cover. Ht & spread 6-8ft. Flws white with blue/mauve tips Aug-Oct. Hard prune group 3. Any aspect.
	C. Marinka - Delicately scented. Flws white flushed blue on the outside June-August. Ht 3-4ft. May need supporting in exposed situations. Hard prune group 3. Any aspect.
	C. Pink Dwarf – Same habit and description as C. Blue Dwarf except for the flowers which in this case are small pink bells. Sun/semi-shade.

	C. Roundway Blue Bird - Dark blue strongly scented tubular flws July-Sept. Ht 3ft. Hard prune group 3. Sun/semi-shade.
